THINK Gas, one of India’s leading City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies, has significantly expanded its natural gas infrastructure across the Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu regions of Tamil Nadu, completing more than 500 km of steel and medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) pipeline networks.
The expanded network is designed to improve access to cleaner and more efficient fuel solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial consumers, reinforcing the company’s footprint in Tamil Nadu’s rapidly growing city gas distribution sector.
As part of its ongoing expansion strategy, THINK Gas plans to extend its pipeline network beyond 550 km by 2026. The company also aims to nearly double its Domestic Piped Natural Gas (DPNG) customer base, increasing household connections from the current 10,125 to around 20,000 over the next year.
In the mobility segment, THINK Gas currently operates 52 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations across Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu and plans to expand the network to 70 stations within the coming year. The enhanced infrastructure is expected to serve more than 30,000 vehicles, promoting the adoption of cleaner transportation fuels and supporting efforts to reduce vehicular emissions.
The expansion reflects the company’s broader commitment to accelerating natural gas adoption, strengthening energy infrastructure, and contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable energy ecosystem in the region. By increasing access to piped natural gas and CNG, THINK Gas aims to support economic growth while advancing India’s transition towards cleaner energy solutions.
